Panic. Now!
Israel just dropped fliers on the American University of Beirut campus and in the surrounding neighborhood.
The fliers are in English and say something to the extent of:
"The Lebanese people protect Hezbollah and will face consequences. Please, get out of Beirut."
This is from a 16 year old Lebanese American playing soccer on the field at International College next to the AUB dorms who told a friend who told me.
This is where I live.
Jesus Christ, it sounds like they just bombed a building behind me. That's the downtown!
I live on the top of my building!
Update: Only one bomb heard.
Supposedly, the flier was in Arabic, and did not say "Please, get out of Beirut." The first half was correct, but the second half was merely cautionary.
Regardless, I've got to pack and get out of here if they're now dropping leaflets on my neighborhood.

Get the hell out....go to the US Embassy!
WHY????????? Is Israel doing this?????? This is the first time I'm 100% against their actions. WHY?????
What's in the university for crying out loud????
OMG :(
Take care.... plzz..
Tse.
"WHY?????"
Because they're sick and tired, obviously. Oddly enough, they don't like having a terror group dedicated to their extermination given free reign on their border.
Funny, those Israelis. So concerned about their own safety!
They are targetting the terror group here, anonymous??? Are they?
Tse.
Go wherever you can to find safety. The family-of-my heart lives in Aramoun have gone up to their summer home in Hammana.
I visited them for ten days last November & while there I gave a talk at al Mundata, a center for dialogue between Muslims and Christians near the AUB. The Lebanese people are among the most gracious and hospitable on the planet, and now this!
When I read your statements about Hezbollah it reminds me of similar statements I make about the madman and his handlers who sit in my White House. We do what we can to fight their madness but in the end, they have the power and we don't.
I admire you and your truthtelling. Please stay safe. I'll be holding you in my heart.
Our US media is reporting the flyers say the Israelis will be bombing known Hezbollah targets, and people in Lebanon know where they are, and telling innoscent bystanders to leave those areas. Any truth to it? I would be great to get a copy on the internet, if it is not.
Does this mean i shoulnd't go to AUB on monday?
I saw copies of the leaflets on the news; they're more pathetic pieces of propaganda BS then any serious concern for people's safety. The list of targets Israel has been goign through shows its complete contempt to Lebanon as a whole, as acountry, as a nation, as a civilization. This is not about Hizballa or Nasralla, at least not any more. Most of the casualties are civilians. On Saturday one whole extended family from the border village of Marwaheen were massacred; 23 killed, only one girl survived. The IDF asked them to leave the village, then they bombed them. This is state terrorism pure and simple.
It occurs to me that Palestinianss and other terrorist supporters have been completely ignoring the fact that the prisoners held by Israel, including women and children, are there for a reason, and that reason is typically attempted suicide bombings, and/or support of such bombings.
Yes, the Palestinians want to see these people, attempted mass murderers and accomplices, freed.
They do not ask for prisoners to be freed "except" for those guilty of terror, they want all the prisoners freed, no exceptions.
This means that:
The Palestinians do not consider the murder of Israelis to be a criminal act. If you try to kill Israelis and fail, you are an innocent Palestinian arrested for no good reason.
Although generalizations about people are not usually a good thing, is it safe to say, then, that in general, Palestinians support terror and murder against Israelis and see nothing wrong with it? Why else would they fail to exclude the guilty from those they want released?
How can this horrible outlook be changed? Is a whole nation- the Palestinians- nothing more than a group of accomplices to murder?
