Riot Pictures

There are not yet many images of the protest online. However, Mark has a decent collection.

Needless to say, the opposition is restricting movement throughout the capital and is intent on destroying the environment and giving everyone lung cancer by burning tires across the country.

The Army is allowing the protestors to obstruct the road, and is then taking down the obstruction.

The opposition has successfully paralyzed the country. It's time for a suitable response. Tensions are rising with young Lebanese emailing me saying "since they are keeping "us" out, perhaps we should keep "them" in - burning tires around the downtown camps and Dahieh for a week."

It's amazing that things have not yet gotten violent. PM Saniora and the 14 March leadership must be keeping a lid on things before Paris III.

kodder - I think you are mistaken. Those were thugs who attacked the army.

But in case you didn't hear one government supporter was killed by Aounists.

It is violent by all standards. And what is keeping it from becoming a blood bath seems the government's patience.
I don't understand these people, can someone explain to me what are they thinking?
This is just absurd.

No - Nothing is absurd. They are jobless, (by rioting they are getting paid probably 10$ each-from Iran), they are illiterate and they do not know what they are doing...

Hello, my name is Lydia Sizer and I am working on a thesis through Brown University in the United States looking at blogs. I am looking at how blogs affect mutual understanding among people of different ethnic backgrounds and I was wondering if you would be willing to take a survey I have prepared for my research. This research would give you a voice in determining whether blogs would be useful in aiding global security and counteracting racism. If you are interested, don't hesitate to email me at Lydia_Sizer@brown.edu. Thank you so much for your time. For convenience, please enter "thesis survey" as the subject of your email as I will not know who is writing to me. Thanks again! In addition, you will receive an email later from lscello@aol.com. This is because my school email is routed through my home email. Thanks!

why couldn't the Government prevent it from getting to this terrible state?

Why couldn't they compromise for the sake of 'peace'? There was plenty of warning that the stand-off would only get worse.

The Opposition are wrong to do what they are doing, but the Government is just as responsible. WHen dealing with people like Hezbollah, you need to act smart, not provocative.

For the sake of the country, compromise.

I hope peace and sanity come soon, for all Lebanese.

In response to upset's retarded analysis, FPMers are mostly college students, they're the same college kids that got run over, beat up and shot at by the security forces run by the idiots in government now. So obviously they don't lack knowledge or education as much as you seem to do.

I don't believe they were "thugs" as you put it, it was live on your beloved channel LBC, when 3 people from the FPM got shot in Kisirwin and I wouldn't be surprised if the shooters were LFers.

LP,
Interesting images, also as interesting the following two posts on the LF site you link to.
The next one blames the army "for not doing enough" and then tells how there were more LFers than demonstrators on the road, wondering "who know[s] what might happen.".
The post following that tells about how the LFers proudly (and not the army) forcefully opened the road after starting a fight, blaming the army again.

So the opposition -possibly- broke the law by closing the road, how does the LF, being part of the government respond?
By destroying the cars and beating the demonstrators up to open the road? breaking the law even more ... nyelna.

Allah ykhallikon fo' rasna ya LF, glad to see you learned to respect the institution w battaltou 'ortet ze3ran.
