Another American has been caught for providing classified American documents to Israel.
Ben-Ami Kadish, currently 84 years old who "grew up in what was the British Mandate of Palestine and fought with the Haganah [the 'Jewish paramilitary force' that was a precursor to the IDF]," was arrested for providing classified materials on US defense, nuclear weapons, and other defense systems to the very same Israeli consulate employee (allegedly Yosef Yagur) to whom the unpardonable traitor Jonathon Pollard reported.
Jonathon Pollard was an Israeli spy*. The Israeli government, and particularly members of the settler movement, regularly petition the United States to release Pollard. They claim he is a political prisoner and that he was merely working to benefit America's close ally Israel because he thought the United States was not doing enough to protect its ally. Contrary to their bogus claims based on Pollard's lies from his prison cell, investigation after investigation, committee after committee have found that Pollard was working for his personal self-interest and money and nothing else.
Even working within the dubious argumentative frame that Pollard had only good intentions - which he did not, his actions * put American security at risk. There can be no apologies for his treasonous actions given that he was sworn to defend American interests and to protect the information provided to him. Pollard's intel fell into Soviet hands through the allegedly leaky and Soviet-infiltrated Israeli defense and intelligence establishment.
Pollard did not care about the consequences of his actions. He merely wanted the cash provided to him. Unlike him, Kadish seems to have had an ideological reason for his treasonous behavior. He cared more about Israel than the country he was sworn to serve and protect. Both of these traitors knew full well what they were doing and should be punished to the full extent of the law for their unpardonable infractions.
Addendum: Apologies. My memory served me wrong in citing an article about Pollard: The politics of pardon: Israel and Jonathan Pollard. P.R. Kumaraswamy. Pollard did not compare in the least to Robert Hanssen and Aldrich Ames in terms of the damage done. The damage that resulted possibly led to deaths, but these were more than likely not American citizens. I don't know how to cross out text, so I've placed asterix where I excised incorrect information.
Obviously, the United States spies on its allies and American allies spy on the United States. Intelligence and national security are far different than personal friendships and relationships, which would likely break if a friend found out you went through his bank invoices or read all of his personal correspondence. Regardless, Pollard and Kadish placed their personal interests above those of the United States and the tax-paying citizens they were hired to serve.

This is disturbing. Why the hell is Israel spying on the United States? This needs to stop.
I don't think being an Israeli-American spy quite counts as treason, however. "Treason" is defined as working for an enemy, and Israel isn't an enemy.
Which deaths resulted in Pollard's actions?
Do you have links to stories?
Here, Here! Absolutely right, CM.
I know people who claim to be patriotic Americans who think it's wrong to detain Pollard. I'm sure I can gauge their opinions on Kadish, too. They're wrong.
They both should sit in a cell next to what's left of Ames, Hanssen and others like them for betraying and tacitly participating in the murder of American citizens.
It's been said that there is no such thing as permanent friends and only permanent interests. Israel is no exception. Ally though she may be, Israel worries about her own survival and security, which places the U.S. and all other nations in second place.
And whereas it may be true that Israel's survival depends on the U.S. the reverse is certainly not. No American, Jew or Gentile, should forget that.
Dont worry mate. The CIA and Mossad have plenty of Lebanese spying for them in Lebanon hehe
Israel is nothing more than an exploitative beggar nation that is probably the worst enemy we've ever had.
Michal T: You're incorrect regarding the definition of treason. Three definitions are:
1. The offense of acting to overthrow one's government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. A violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or to one's state.
3. The betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.
Kadish certainly betrayed the government's trust and violated his allegiance to the U.S. Worse, his actions may have resulted in the death of Americans. If he is guilty and found so after due process, he deserves solitary confinement for the rest of his life.

If every "betrayal of a trust" was classified as treason then Bill Clinton would be in the solitary confinement now.
Is this really something that Lebanese should be discussing right now? If so, why?
